New Delhi: Tottenham Hotspur have officially announced the signing of Mohammed Kudus from West Ham, bringing the talented Ghanaian midfielder to North London on a six-year deal that runs until 2031. The contract was sealed at £55 million, subject to a work permit. His addition to the club will strengthen their squad for the upcoming season.

The 24-year-old midfielder was one of West Ham’s standout performers, having scored 19 goals and provided 13 assists in 80 appearances since joining from Ajax in 2023. Despite an £85 million release clause, Hammers agreed to let him leave for a lower fee after rejecting an initial £50 million bid from Spurs last week.

The midfielder expressed his excitement about the move, calling it a “big moment” in his career. Kudus told Spurs’ official channel, “I’ve always wanted to play at the highest level. How big the club is, the history and the Champions League as well, it’s a big moment. I’m very happy and can’t wait to start.”

Kudus also highlighted the influence of new Spurs head coach Thomas Frank as a major factor in his decision, noting Frank’s track record of developing talent and his vision for the club’s project.

“From where [Frank] has come from and the talent he’s developed to become great players, it’s a big sign as to why I wanted to work under him,” he added.

Spurs eyeing further midfield reinforcements

Tottenham’s transfer business may not stop with Kudus as the club is reportedly close to finalising a £60 million deal for Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White, who is also expected to undergo a medical soon. Spurs are keen to strengthen under Thomas Frank as they prepare for Champions League football next season.

Gibbs-White has been a key player for Forest since joining in 2022 and could add further creativity to Tottenham’s midfield alongside Kudus.

Arsenal close to signing Chelsea’s Madueke

The 23-year-old has made 92 appearances for Chelsea since arriving from PSV Eindhoven in January 2023, scoring 20 goals. A former Tottenham academy player, Madueke is seen as a versatile option for Mikel Arteta’s squad, capable of covering both wings while providing depth for Bukayo Saka and adding flexibility to Arsenal’s attack.

Chelsea’s need to comply with financial fair play rules has prompted the sale with the club seeking to balance their books after recent spending.
