Meta’s new security initiative

The cases of online fraud are decreasing on Meta’s platforms, WhatsApp and Facebook. The company recently announced that new updates will be introduced to alert users about possible fraud in video calls and messaging on these platforms. In the past, many users experienced that fraudsters managed to steal their banking or personal data by trapping them for long periods of time during video calls.

Warning for screen sharing

Meta’s new security feature will provide WhatsApp users with a warning before sharing their screen. If you’re going to share the screen with someone you don’t know, you’ll get a pop-up message saying ‘Share the screen only with people you trust’.

information security

Users can see all the information visible on their screen, including banking details. Screen sharing is end-to-end encrypted and is not recorded by WhatsApp.

Important features for users

This feature is especially important for those users who have ever shared sensitive information falling prey to fraudsters. Now users will get time to think and the platform will try to keep them safe by giving warnings.

role of ai

Subsequently, these activities will be reviewed with the help of AI and users will be informed about how scamsters can use these types of messages to steal data or commit fraud.

New feature of UPI

Additionally, UPI in India has also added the feature of warning before sending money. Meta recently disabled the payment request feature on WhatsApp so that scammers are not able to steal money.
