Amazon Plans To Replace Employees With Robots: As big tech companies are laying off their employees and using Artificial Intelligence (AI) as part of their cost-cutting another piece of bad news has come from Amazon which is planning to replace more than half a million jobs with robots in the coming years. As per a report by the New York Times the company has tripled its workforce in the US to nearly 1.2 million since 2018. But now automation could halt new hiring.

As per the report based on internal documents it accessed Amazon is planning to replace jobs like picking packing and delivery in warehouses with robots reducing the need for humans. The robotics team aims to automate 75 percent of its operations focusing on warehouses that utilise a minimal number of human workers.
Who Pitched The Idea Of Robotic Automation?
Amazon executives in a meeting told the board that using of robots could reduce the human workforce and can double the sales by 2033. This indicates that Amazon will not require recruitment of over 500000 extra workers.
How Robots Will Save Money For Amazon?
As per the internal document the robots are going to save 30 cents on every item they pick pack and deliver. If we talk about the total savings it could reach USD12.6 billion between 2025 and 2027.
Amazon Plans To Automate 75% Of Operations
Amazon is now planning to build warehouses which has very few human workers and more robots. These warehouses will be designed for super-fast delivery with the help of a robot workforce. The company’s robotic team is planning to automate 75 percent of its operations.
It is to be noted that the Jeff Bezos company already launched its most advanced warehouse in Shreveport in 2024. In this warehouse a total of 1000 robots are working reducing its human workforce by 25 percent. Now the company is planning to replicate the Shreveport design at approximately 40 facilities by the end of 2027.
