This decision has been taken so that the people observing Chhath fast can perform the puja with full devotion and without any hassle. The third day of this great festival which lasts for four days is the most special. On this day, devotees offer Arghya to the setting sun, preparations for which start from the morning itself. A lot of work is done in the families and People are busy in preparations for the puja. Keeping this in mind, the Delhi government has decided to declare Monday as a public holiday. All government offices, schools and colleges will remain closed. The government has made special preparations at the ghats. The Chief Minister while congratulating the Chhath devotees said that this festival is dedicated to the worship of nature, Sun and Chhathi Maiya. It is a symbol of Chhath. It gives us the message of faith, devotion and cleanliness. Along with this, he also informed that Delhi Government has made arrangements on a large scale at all the ghats for Chhath Puja. In the city More than 1,300 Chhath Ghats have been built so that people do not face any problem in worshipping. The government’s effort is to provide cleanliness, security and all other necessary facilities to the devotees, so that they can complete their fast peacefully.
