Action has been taken in the case of death of a person after falling into a pit in Janakpuri area of Delhi. Three officers including JE of Water Board have been suspended. An investigation is being conducted against the company to which the contract was awarded. Minister Pravesh Verma gave this information.
Delhi government minister Pravesh Verma visited the accident site in Janakpuri, where sewer line work was going on. He expressed deep sorrow over this accident and said that our condolences are with the victim’s family. He said that Executive Engineer, AE and JE have been suspended with immediate effect. Strict action is being taken against the responsible agency.
Formation of high level committee for investigation
Delhi Jal Board has constituted a high level committee to ensure a transparent investigation into the incident. The following instructions have been given to the committee-
- immediate inspection of accident site
- Reviewing security arrangements, barricades, signboards and traffic management.
- Verifying compliance with all safety standards
- Fixing responsibility wherever mistakes are found
- Recommending strict corrective and disciplinary action
Minister Pravesh Verma said that a detailed report has been sought by evening. Safety of citizens is paramount. Accountability will be fixed. He claimed that such incidents will not be allowed to happen again.
Accident with bike rider while returning home from office
The bike rider who died after falling into a pit in Janakpuri area of the national capital has been identified as Kamal, who is said to be a resident of Kailashpuri. He used to work in the call center of a private bank. According to the information, this accident happened when he was returning home after work from his office in Rohini at night. Police said that information regarding the incident was received at around seven in the morning after which policemen reached the spot.
