Nepal opener Kushal Bhurtel showed no fear against one of the fastest bowlers in world cricket Jofra Archer during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 clash against England at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Bhurtel played with confidence and intent by hitting Archer for three boundaries during one over which created the first momentum for Nepal's batting chase.
After facing Archer at the start of the innings Bhurtel showed total control of the match. Archer delivered his full bowling length while maintaining his wide delivery and Bhurtel took advantage of this by executing his precise hitting. Bhurtel displayed his timing skills through his two consecutive fours which he hit beyond the cover-point boundary. He finished the over with another boundary hit through Archer's delivery which he used to drive the ball into the square opening.

Nepal used their aggressive style of play to increase their confidence while showing their determination to fight instead of waiting for their opponents. Bhurtel's fearless batting against a bowler of Archer's quality brought the crowd to life and gave Nepal their first momentum.

Bhurtel Leads Nepal’s Positive Start
During the powerplay period Bhurtel maintained his attacking style of play while successfully rotating the batting and punishing bowlers who delivered bad balls to him. He scored 29 runs from 17 balls by hitting four boundaries and one six. Will Jacks took a sharp return catch to end Bhurtel's entertaining innings after he dismissed the right-hander who was on track for a huge score.
The damage had already been done by Bhurtel before he got out. His early attack helped Nepal cross 40 runs quickly and maintain their required run rate. His intent allowed other batters to settle without pressure.
Match Situation So Far at Wankhede
The match between England and Nepal is still going on at the Wankhede Stadium. England scored 184 runs and lost 7 wickets during their 20 overs of play. Harry Brook scored 53 runs Jacob Bethell made 55 runs while Will Jacks scored 39 runs without getting out during his late appearance.
Nepal has scored 85 runs while losing 2 wickets after completing their 10 over innings. Rohit Paudel is batting on 20 while Dipendra Singh Airee is looking solid with 25 runs. The Nepalese team maintains a good scoring pace yet they face a difficult fight against the experienced England bowlers.
Nepal wants to continue their batting push forward because they still have half their chase remaining and have available wickets. England wants to win the match by getting more wicket dismissals. The contest remains interesting because the next few overs will determine the game's outcome.
