Global icon Priyanka Chopra Jonas is making her comeback in Indian films, with the upcoming SS Rajamouli ’s magnum opus, ‘Varanasi’, starring Tollywood superstar Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran. Recently, his husband, singer Nick Jonas , talked about the film, saying, “It's going to be incredible”.



While speaking in a podcast on Zach Sang Show, the ‘Leave Before You Love Me’ singer spoke about the ‘Baahubali’ director’s next project. He shared that Priyanka Chopra filming it for over 14 months now. He said, “Priyanka has been shooting one movie for 14 months, on and off. It’s a South Indian film with SS Rajamouli, who directed RRR, his last movie. This is his next big film; it’s going to be incredible.”



Nick Jonas’ love for Indian film music Nick Jonas also spoke about Hindi and Indian music. He said, “The melodies are just so incredible.” He spoke about how music in Indian films becomes famous. Nick said that actors lip-sync while singers sing the songs. He shared that Indian film music feels big and special. He also said that Indian music often turns into a celebration, with people dancing in theatres. “The melodies are just so incredible. They are on a scale that we are not as familiar with over here. The thing I love about Hindi music and music from Southeast Asia is that, a lot of the time, the music comes from a film and becomes famous. So often it’s the actors who are lip-syncing to someone else’s voice. But there are these music composers who specialise in making songs sound like big hits and fit cinematically. That’s something very inspiring to me. There’s so much great music in Indian cinema,” he said.

About ‘Varanasi’ charactersPriyanka Chopra is playing the female lead as Mandakini in the film. Meanwhile, Mahesh Babu is seen as Rudra and Prithviraj Sukumaran as the villain named Kumbha. ‘Varanasi’ will release on 7 April 2027.
