The results for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2026 Session 1 are imminent, with the registration for Session 2 currently in progress. The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee has announced the schedule for JEE Advanced 2026, which is set for May 17th. Many candidates are diligently preparing for JEE Main 2026, primarily aiming for admission into prestigious IITs, particularly IIT Delhi.



Admission Process for IIT Delhi via JoSSA Counseling

While most are familiar with the admission process to IITs, it's worth reiterating. Candidates who rank among the top 250,000 in JEE Main qualify to take JEE Advanced. JoSSA counseling is then conducted for these top scorers, determining seat allocations in IITs. Only those who rank within the top 3000 in JEE Advanced are eligible for admission.



B.Tech Courses and Seat Availability at IIT Delhi

IIT Delhi offers over 20 B.Tech programs, totaling 1239 available seats. Notably, the distribution of seats in some of the most sought-after courses includes 99 in Computer Science and Engineering, 89 in Mathematics and Computing, 110 in Civil Engineering, 85 in Mechanical Engineering, and 75 in Chemical Engineering.



Tuition Fees for B.Tech at IIT Delhi

The tuition fees for the B.Tech program at IIT Delhi are structured per semester. According to JoSSA 2025 guidelines, candidates from the general and OBC categories with a family income exceeding ₹5 lakh are required to pay ₹1 lakh per semester. Conversely, those with a family income below ₹5 lakh will pay ₹33,333 per semester.



Hostel Costs at IIT Delhi

IIT Delhi provides hostel accommodations for its students. Newly admitted students must pay ₹22,000 for hostel fees over eight semesters, of which ₹15,000 is refundable. This fee is a one-time payment, while the mess charges are ₹40,000 per semester.
