Two South Korean cross-country skiers have been kicked out of the Winter Olympics after a banned substance was found on their skis. Han Dasom and Lee Eui-jin had been competing in the qualification round of the Milano-Cortina Games, but they were disqualified after an unapproved wax on their skis was discovered.

The substance in question is flour - short for fluorinated ski wax - and has been prohibited by the International Ski and Snowboard Federation since the 2023/24 season. It originally gained popularity with skiers in the 1980s, as it helps boost an object's glide.

Having initially been used in sailing, skiers started to use flour, but it was eventually outlawed because of its toxic impact on the environment. It's said to have a 'forever chemical' in its makeup, meaning the wax doesn't biodegrade.

Athletes have their skis tested near the finish line to check for any illicit substances, with flour having been found on the South Korean duo's equipment. Han and Lee weren't expected to compete for medals at the Games, having finished 157 and 158 in the World Cup.

It's the latest scandal to hit the 2026 Games, coming just days after claims that male skiers might've been 'injecting acid into their penises' in an attempt to make them grow. It's suggested the practice can help ski jumpers get a bigger suit, which in turn has an impact on the aerodynamics while flying through the air.

There weren't any verifiable examples of this taking place, but the World Anti Doping Agency did say they'd look into it if any cases came to light. Much like their cross-country counterparts, ski jumpers are subject to plenty of checks, with the size of their suits having to be 3D measured.

Meanwhile, a biathlete from Norway admitted to having an affair just moments after taking bronze at the Games. In a shocking tv interview, Sturla Holm Laegreid told NRK: "There's someone I wanted to share it with who might not be watching.

"Six months ago I met the love of my life - the most beautiful and kindest person in the world. Three months ago I made my biggest mistake and cheated on her. I had the gold medal in life, and I am sure there are many people who will see things differently, but I only have eyes for her. Sport has come second these last few days. Yes, I wish I could share this with her."
