Parliament – The Lok Sabha will meet on Friday for the final sitting of the first phase of the ongoing Budget Session, with a packed agenda that includes obituary references, ministerial statements, committee reports and private members’ resolutions. According to the official List of Business, members are expected to address a range of administrative and legislative matters before the House adjourns for the next break.

At the outset of the sitting, the House will observe an obituary reference in memory of former Member of Parliament Bhagwan Dass Rathor, who passed away in January 2026. Members are expected to pay their respects before regular proceedings begin.
Following the tribute, the Question Hour will take place, during which Union ministers will respond to queries raised by MPs. This segment typically allows lawmakers to seek clarifications and updates on government policies and programmes across ministries.
Several ministries are scheduled to place official papers on the Table of the House. These include documents from the Ministries of Education, Culture, Health, Home Affairs, Law and Justice, Commerce and Industry, and Textiles. Such papers generally include annual reports, notifications, rules and other statutory documents required to be presented before Parliament.
The Standing Committee on Transport, Tourism and Culture will also submit a detailed report focusing on the holistic development of India’s tourism sector. The report outlines recommendations related to formal skill development, university-level courses, and professional training initiatives aimed at strengthening services in guiding, hospitality and eco-tourism. The committee’s findings are expected to contribute to ongoing discussions on enhancing tourism infrastructure and employment opportunities.
Union Minister Prataprao Jadhav is set to inform the House about the progress made in implementing recommendations concerning mental health care services and the functioning of the Central Government Health Scheme. The statement will provide updates on administrative measures and policy follow-ups taken by the government.
Union Minister Suresh Gopi will also address the House regarding action taken on recommendations linked to the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. His statement is expected to outline the government’s response to suggestions made by parliamentary panels.
Under the Private Members’ Business segment, several resolutions are scheduled for discussion. These include proposals aimed at improving railway operations in Kerala and conserving historic forts in Maharashtra. Another resolution seeks to address the backlog of court cases by simplifying perjury-related procedures under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023. While private members’ resolutions are not binding, they often highlight regional concerns and policy suggestions raised by individual MPs.
On Thursday, the Lok Sabha passed the Industrial Relations Code (Amendment) Bill, 2026, after an extended debate. The legislation proposes changes to the Industrial Relations Code, 2020, with the objective of preventing future legal and administrative complications arising from the transition from earlier labour laws.
The amendment seeks to ensure clarity following the replacement of three previous laws: the Trade Unions Act, 1926; the Industrial Employment (Standing Orders) Act, 1946; and the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947. These laws governed trade unions, industrial employment conditions and dispute resolution mechanisms prior to the introduction of the consolidated labour code.
Several members took part in the discussion on the Bill, expressing views on labour reforms and regulatory clarity. The debate reflected differing perspectives but concluded with the passage of the amendment.
During the ongoing Budget Session, multiple ministries have continued to table reports and documents as part of regular parliamentary procedure. Friday’s sitting is expected to formally wrap up the first phase of the session, setting the stage for further deliberations when Parliament reconvenes.
