Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) is set to present its annual budget for the financial year 2026‑27, proposing a total outlay of approximately ₹2,278.34 crore. Among the planned allocations, the corporation is expected to reserve ₹300 crore each for improving roads and strengthening solid waste management systems, reflecting a continued emphasis on essential urban infrastructure and sanitation.
The budget proposals were prepared ahead of scheduled discussions in the LMC House and Executive Committee meetings later this week, where revised estimates for the current financial year 2025‑26 and the original estimates for the next year will be tabled and reviewed.
Road infrastructure remains one of the largest expenditure heads in the draft plan, with around ₹326.40 crore earmarked for construction and repair of city roads. An additional ₹20 crore is proposed under the Chief Minister Grid Scheme to support specific corridors. Meanwhile, the ₹300 crore allocation for solid waste management underlines ongoing efforts to enhance sanitation services across the city.
Other key components of the budget include a consistent ₹15 crore provision for drain cleaning, and ₹370 crore set aside to meet outstanding financial liabilities, such as past dues and committed payments. Funds allocated to executing agencies have been proposed at ₹100 crore, slightly lower than in the previous revised estimates.
Civic amenities also feature in the spending plan. Maintenance of parks has been increased to ₹42 crore, which includes amounts for painting and beautification. Street lighting improvements are supported with ₹16 crore, covering repairs and procurement of new lighting equipment. There are also dedicated funds for new civic construction projects and municipal building repairs.
Housing and residential infrastructure are not overlooked, with ₹25 crore proposed for flat construction and ₹40 crore for completing a multi‑storey housing project at the Ahana Enclave. Additionally, ₹10 crore is earmarked for municipal land surveys and boundary wall construction to secure civic properties.
Development work under the Infrastructure Fund is proposed at ₹180 crore, and allocations for model vending zones have been raised from ₹10 crore to ₹15 crore, aimed at expanding organised spaces for street vendors. As deliberations in the LMC House and Executive Committee progress, elected members and officials are expected to discuss the finer points of these proposals ahead of final approval.
