Angered by the defeat, Trump said he would implement a 10 percent global tariff as an alternative while pursuing his trade policies in other ways. The new tariffs will come under a law that limits them to 150 days.

President Trump made the announcement after fiercely attacking the Supreme Court for striking down much of his sweeping tariff framework as an illegal use of emergency powers. Trump said he was absolutely ashamed of the judges who struck down his tariffs and called the decision extremely disappointing. He said that his decision was wrong.
