Arsenal set-piece coach Nicolas Jover is reportedly rewarded with a bonus every time his team scores from a set piece. The Gunnersadded two more in their 2-1 win over Chelsea on Sunday, both coming from corners, taking them to a joint‑record 16 goals from corners this season.
This matches the joint‑highest total recorded in a single season, alongside Oldham Athletic in 1992/93, West Bromwich Albion in 2016–17, and Arsenal's own tally from 2023/24. William Saliba struck first from Bukayo Saka's delivery, before Jurrien Timberheaded in another in the second half.
According to The Athletic, Jover's contract includes a bonus clause tied to goals scored from dead‑ball situations. When Mikel Artetasigned his most recent Arsenal contract in September 2024, the club is said to have opened separate negotiations with the rest of his backroom staff, including set‑piece coach Jover, assistant manager Albert Stuivenberg and goalkeeping coach Inaki Cana.
Jover, whose speciality lies in set‑piece work, was reported to have significant leverage during talks.
The final agreement included a clause ensuring the 44-year‑old receives bonuses for goals Arsenal score from set‑piece situations.
