In a tragic event on Saturday, a severe fire broke out at a color manufacturing factory in Safidon, Jind district, Haryana. The situation escalated for the workers when they discovered that the factory gate was locked from the outside, trapping them inside. As the flames spread, many workers were unable to escape, leading to panic and chaos. Unfortunately, five women lost their lives due to severe burns, and several others sustained serious injuries.
According to reports from the workers, around 30 individuals were present in the factory at the time of the incident. When the fire ignited, they rushed to exit, only to find the gate locked. In a desperate bid to save themselves, some workers jumped from the roof to escape the flames.
Upon receiving the alert, multiple fire department vehicles arrived at the scene and worked tirelessly for several hours to bring the blaze under control. The injured workers were transported to the civil hospital in Jind via two ambulances. Among the first three victims taken to the hospital were Rani (45), Jagbir (40), and Pawan Kumar (30), all of whom are currently receiving treatment.
Additionally, Kashmiri (39) and Kamlesh (54) were also admitted to the hospital in critical condition. Another victim, Bimla (60), is receiving treatment as well.
A total of 16 women and two men were rescued from the factory in burned condition, with five women confirmed dead. The deceased have been identified as Pooja, Usha, Pinky, and Guddi, while the identity of one woman remains unknown. Following the incident, the families of the victims expressed their outrage, threatening to block roads in Safidon. Authorities, including the District Collector and Superintendent of Police, assured the families of appropriate action and compensation to calm the situation.
