Punjab News: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, while addressing the assembly, said that the state government is continuously working to fulfill the promises made to the common people. He said that the direct benefits of many government schemes are reaching the people and the pace of development will increase in the coming times.
The Chief Minister specifically mentioned the ‘Mukhyamantri Maanva-Dhiyan Satkar Yojana’ being started for women. He said that under this scheme, women above 18 years of age of general category will be given Rs 1000 every month and women of Scheduled Caste category will be given Rs 1500. He said that this amount is very important for ordinary families and this is an initiative to the respect of women. The registration process for this scheme will be started from April 13.
The Chief Minister said that many schemes are being run in the state to provide better facilities to the people. These include free electricity, free bus travel for women and major reforms in health services. He said that the aim of the government is that every family should get better living facilities.
Giving information about health services, the Chief Minister said that 881 Aam Aadmi Clinics have been started in the state, where a large number of people are getting treatment. So far, more than 5 crore patients have been treated in these clinics. He said that under ‘Mukhyamantri Sehat Yojana’, cashless treatment up to Rs 10 lakh is being provided to every family. About 900 hospitals, including government and private, have been included in this scheme.
He said that to strengthen health services, new medical colleges will be established in Lahiragaga, Sangrur, Malerkotla, Hoshiarpur and Kapurthala. Apart from this, doctors have also been recruited in government hospitals so that people can get better treatment.
Referring to the reforms done in the education sector, the Chief Minister said that 118 Schools of Eminence are being established in the state. The aim of these schools is to provide high level education to the students. He told that principals and teachers are being sent for training to institutes like Finland, Singapore and IIM Ahmedabad. Till now, 13,765 teachers have been recruited from the year 2022.
The Chief Minister said that the coming time is of Artificial Intelligence, hence special training is being given to teachers to introduce children to new technologies. He also said that Punjab has performed well in the National Achievement Survey-2024, which is a matter of pride for the state.
Talking about the agriculture sector, the Chief Minister said that farmers are now being provided electricity during day time, which has made farming easier. He told that farmers are being given a price of Rs 416 per quintal of sugarcane, which is the highest in the country. Along with this, works like renovation of canals and construction of new Malwa Canal are also being done.
Giving information about employment, the Chief Minister said that till now the state government has given government jobs to 63,943 youth. He said that the recruitment process has been done in a transparent manner. Apart from this, many steps are also being taken to promote industries. A big manufacturing plant of Tata Steel is being set up in Ludhiana at a cost of Rs 3200 crore, which is expected to provide employment to thousands of youth.
The Chief Minister said that about Rs 5000 crore is being spent under the ‘Roshan Punjab’ campaign to strengthen the infrastructure in the state. This also includes improving the electricity system and laying underground wires. Apart from this, 44,920 kilometers of roads are also being renovated.
CM further said that many administrative services have also been made easier for the convenience of the people. To reduce the problems to land registry, e-registry and e-Jamabandhi system has been implemented. Besides, 19 toll plazas have been closed in the state, due to which the common people are getting financial relief.
In the end, the Chief Minister said that the Punjab government will continue to work with full commitment for the service of the people and the development of the state, so that Punjab can make more progress in the times to come.
