Johar also addressed questions around Takht, confirming that the project is currently on hold. However, he reaffirmed his commitment to eventually bringing it to the big screen.

He described Takht as one of the strongest scripts of his career and credited writer Sumit Roy for its development.

The film, announced in 2021, features a star-studded cast including Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Anil Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal, Janhvi Kapoorand Bhumi Pednekar. The project faced delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic and remains unreleased.
