Projects like convention center, development of heritage buildings and Dubagga flyover have been approved in Lucknow. This will strengthen the infrastructure, tourism and transportation system in the city.

Lucknow. In the cabinet meeting held at Lok Bhavan on Monday, many important projects were approved to strengthen the infrastructure, heritage conservation and traffic system of the capital Lucknow. These include schemes like International Convention Centre, conservation of historical buildings and Dubagga flyover.

International Convention Centre: Cost increases to Rs 1435.25 crore

In the meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the revised cost of the International Exhibition-cum-Convention Center to be built in Vrindavan Yojana Sector-15, Lucknow was approved. Earlier the cost of this project was fixed at Rs 1297.42 crore, but due to cost overrun during the tender process, it was revised to Rs 1435.25 crore. This cost also includes GST, levy, contingency and supervision charges.

The convention center will be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities

This convention center will be built on EPC model and will have many modern facilities:

  • Large convention hall with a capacity of 10,000 people
  • Auditorium with a capacity of 2,500 people
  • Large scale parking system
  • Modern security and crowd control systems

Will become a major center for international events

The objective of this project is to make Lucknow a major hub for international events. Big events like Defense Expo can be organized here. Besides, there is also a plan to develop 5-star and budget hotels nearby, so that people coming from India and abroad can get better facilities. This project will help in making Lucknow a global event hub.

Heritage Conservation: Development of Roshan-ud-Daula and Chhatar Manzil

Yogi government has also taken an important decision for the preservation of the historical heritage of Lucknow. Roshan-ud-Daula Bhawan and Chhatar Manzil will be developed on PPP model under 'Adaptive Re-use'. For this, the ownership of the land of these buildings will be transferred to the Tourism Department free of cost. These historical buildings will be developed as heritage tourism centres, which will promote tourism. The government has clarified that this decision has been taken in special circumstances and it will not be considered a general rule in future.

Dubagga flyover: Will provide relief from traffic jam

The project of construction of flyover at Dubagga intersection situated on Lucknow-Hardoi road has also been approved.

  • Length of flyover: 1,811.72 meters
  • Lanes: Three Lanes
  • Total cost: Rs 305.31 crore

Dubagga intersection is a busy traffic hub of the city. With the construction of the flyover, the problem of traffic jam will be reduced significantly.

Steps towards making Lucknow a modern and tourist center

The government believes that all these projects together will make Lucknow a modern, organized and attractive city.
