Who is RCB's new chairman, Aryaman Birla? A consortium led by the Aditya Birla Group has acquired the Royal Challengers Bangalore franchise for US$1.78 billion, a sum equivalent to over ₹16,000 crore. The consortium includes the Aditya Birla Group, the Times of India Group, Bolt Ventures, and the Blackstone Investment Group. Together, they have acquired a 100 percent stake in RCB, and Aryaman Birla has been appointed chairman of the franchise.


Who is Aryaman Birla?

Aryaman Birla is the son of Aditya Birla Group Chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla. Aryaman is only 28 years old and a former cricketer. He played for Madhya Pradesh in Indian domestic cricket. He also played alongside current RCB captain Rajat Patidar and Venkatesh Iyer. A left-handed batsman, Aryaman Birla has scored 414 runs in nine first-class matches for Madhya Pradesh, including a century at Eden Gardens. He also has 36 runs in four List A matches.


Bids placed in the IPL auction

Aryaman Birla was bought by Rajasthan Royals for ₹30 lakh in the 2018 mega auction, but he didn't get a chance to play a single match that entire season. Before the 2020 season, Aryaman was released by the Rajasthan team. He subsequently took a break from cricket, citing mental health concerns, and never returned to the sport.


Aryaman Birla is the chairman of the Bengaluru franchise, while Satyan Gajwani of the Times of India Group has been appointed vice-chairman. RCB are the defending IPL champions. Under the captaincy of Rajat Patidar, the Bengaluru team defeated the Punjab Kings in the 2025 final to win the Indian Premier League title for the first time. Now, RCB will be looking to make history by winning the glittering trophy once again.
