Mohamed Salah has failed to live up to Jurgen Klopp's pledge as he gears up to conclude his nine-year tenure at Liverpool at the end of this season. The Egyptian took to social media on Tuesday, posting a video to inform Reds fans of his decision to depart. Liverpool issued an official statement confirming that Salah and the club had mutually agreed to part ways upon the conclusion of the current campaign.

Despite being transparent with fans about his future, Salah has not yet dismissed the possibility of signing for another Premier League team. The 33-year-old previously had a two-year stint at Chelsea from 2014 to 2016, before transferring to Anfield from Roma the subsequent year. Having established himself as a club icon, any move to a domestic rival would certainly provoke a reaction among Liverpool supporters.

This was the first action Klopp took when he announced his intention to resign as Liverpool manager. "If you ask me, 'Will you ever work as a manager again?' I would say now, 'No'," Klopp confessed at the time.

"I don't know obviously how that will feel because I never had the situation. What I know definitely - I will never, ever manage a different club in England than Liverpool, 100 per cent. That's not possible. My love for this club, my respect for the people is too big. I couldn't. I couldn't for a second think about it.

"There's no chance. This is part of my life, we are part of the family, we feel home here. There's no chance to do that."

Klopp's degree of devotion has understandably prompted speculation about Salah's future move, particularly as he gets ready to depart following extraordinary years at Anfield. Unsurprisingly, his exit will attract attention from rival clubs.

Throughout his spell at the club, Salah cemented his status as one of the finest players in the Reds' contemporary history. He has secured a Premier League title, the Champions League, the FA Cup, two League Cups, the UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup during his time at Anfield.

On a personal level, he has claimed three Golden Boots and a PFA Player of the Year award. Salah has also been named the Professional Footballers' Association Player of the Year three times - in 2018, 2022 and 2025.
