A busy UK motorway has been shut down following a single vehicle collision that led to a fire.

The M62 in Greater Manchester is closed westbound between J12 Eccles Interchange (M60, M602) and J11 Birchwood Interchange (Warrington (E), Birchwood; A574) late on Thursday, 26 March.

The closure is due to a single car collision. The car has subsequently caught fire.

Greater Manchester Police and Manchester Fire and Rescue are on scene along with National Highways Traffic Officers.
