Wildfires have devastated vast areas in Nebraska, with Governor Jim Pillen taking swift action by issuing emergency declarations and executive orders as the state works to regain control. The extent of the destruction is alarming, with four major fires having burned over 800,000 acres collectively. In light of this, Governor Pillen has introduced new proclamations and executive orders aimed at the regions most severely impacted.

A recent proclamation has declared emergencies in counties associated with three significant fires: the Morrill, Cottonwood, and Anderson Bridge fires. These incidents have necessitated the deployment of state resources and emergency management assistance. Notably, the Road 203 Fire, which is affecting Blaine and Thomas counties, is not included in the state’s emergency declaration as it is being managed by federal authorities.

Additionally, the Nebraska Emergency Management Agency has activated the State Emergency Operations Center in response to new fire activity reported in Grant County. The Rocky Mountain Complex Incident Management Team, which is also overseeing the Morrill and Cottonwood fires, has been assigned to manage operations in this area under the guidance of the state and Governor Pillen.
