British health and beauty retailer Superdrug has just opened the doors to a new and improved store in Leeds as part of a major nationwide expansion with dozens more locations set to follow this year. The brand's latest outlet at White Rose Shopping Centre replaces its former smaller unit and covers more than 7,140 square feet. Although it had originally been scheduled to open on April 2, the launch was brought forward, with doors opening to customers on April 1.
The upgraded branch has been created as a "beauty destination", offering customers a wider range of services alongside its product lines. A central feature is a dedicated beauty studio where visitors can book treatments such as nail services, brow styling and ear piercing.
The store also has a nurse-led aesthetics clinic providing both healthcare and cosmetic services. Customers can access treatments, including travel vaccinations, as well as procedures like anti-wrinkle injections and skin therapies.
As reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post, Superdrug COO Simon Comins said: "With this larger space, we've created an immersive destination designed for today's beauty customer. This store offers a more engaging, experience-led approach that goes beyond traditional retail."
Steven Forster, centre director at White Rose, said: "The exciting new space enhances our guests' experience and reflects the continued confidence that brands have in the centre. We look forward to seeing customers enjoy the new offering."
The shopping centre shared a series of images on social media capturing the opening day, showing the first customers exploring the new store as well as staff welcoming shoppers through the doors and assisting them inside the upgraded space.
One person commented on the TikTok post: "I have walked past, it looks stunning," while another added: "Love it."
The opening forms part of a wider expansion strategy that will see the company launch 30 new stores across the UK in 2026, creating around 600 jobs.
Founded in 1964 by the Goldstein brothers in London, the business now has 789 stores across the UK and the Republic of Ireland.
Other confirmed locations include sites across England, Scotland and Wales, such as Crawley, Waterlooville Retail Park and Newport on the Isle of Wight, as well as Dundee's Gallagher Retail Park, Kilmarnock, East Kilbride, Strathkelvin Retail Park and Linwood's Phoenix Retail Park, alongside Cwmbran Retail Park in Wales
Clare Jennings, Superdrug's property director, previously said: "Superdrug continues to see strong demand for physical, experience-led retail, and our 2026 store opening programme is a clear vote of confidence in UK bricks and mortar retail.
"By opening 30 stores, we're not just increasing our footprint, we're creating destinations that bring together beauty, healthcare and affordable treatments under one roof.
"Our customers want more than convenience, they want expertise, products and services they can trust, delivered in welcoming spaces within their local communities.
"This investment allows us to bring bigger, better Superdrug stores to more locations across the UK, unlocking more access to healthcare, beauty products and treatments, while creating hundreds of new jobs and long-term career opportunities for our colleagues."
