There is every possibility of a big record being made in the 11th match of the Indian Premier League 2026 (IPL 2026). Defending champions Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will face five-time winners Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. In this high-voltage match, all eyes will be on RCB’s experienced fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who is just one wicket away from achieving a historic feat.


 


Bhuvneshwar Kumar has come very close to making a big record in IPL. He currently has 199 wickets to his name and by taking just one wicket, he will become the first fast bowler in the league history to cross the 200 wicket mark. Not only this, he will also become the second bowler to take 200 wickets in IPL. Currently on top in this list is Yuzvendra Chahal, who has taken 224 wickets in 176 matches.


 



Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s IPL career


36-year-old Bhuvneshwar Kumar started his journey in IPL in 2011 with Pune Warriors India. On the basis of his swing bowling, he soon made a place in international cricket. In the early stages, he was known as a swing bowler who troubled the batsmen with the new ball. With time Bhuvneshwar made many changes in his bowling. He increased his pace and made lethal balls like yorkers his strength. His career touched new heights after joining Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in 2014. The period from 2014 to 2017 was the best for him when he consistently performed brilliantly.


 


Bhuvneshwar Kumar played an important role in Hyderabad’s title win in IPL 2016. He contributed in making the team champion by taking 23 wickets in 17 matches. His pairing with captain David Warner was very successful that season and defeated Virat Kohli’s RCB in the final. On the basis of this performance, Bhuvi created history by winning the Purple Cap twice consecutively in 2016 and 2017. Last season, he became a part of RCB and also contributed significantly in the team’s first IPL trophy win. He took 17 wickets in 14 matches.
