The workload in the office is so high that many times employees are not able to take their entire leave even if they want to. At the end of the year, these leaves often ‘lapsed’ i.e. became useless, which caused a lot of grief to the employees. But now you don’t have to worry! The new labor rules of the central government have given a big good news to the employees. Now you will not lose any of your hard-earned leave, instead you will get direct cash in return.
According to the new labor provisions, if an employee is not able to use his ‘Earned Leaves’ throughout the year, then the company will have to pay the amount of those remaining leaves to the employee. This rule is no less than a boon for those lakhs of employed people who could not take a break due to work commitments. Now your remaining holidays will become your source of extra income.
It has also been made clear in the rules that an employee can transfer or ‘carry forward’ only a maximum of 30 days of leave in his next year’s account. If your remaining leave exceeds 30 days, it will be mandatory for the company to pay those additional days at the end of the same current year. This means that now the account of holidays will be completely clear.
According to earlier rules, to get the leave entitlement, an employee was required to work for at least 240 days in a year. The government has now reduced this limit to just 180 days. This simply means that now employees will become eligible to earn and avail leave in a very short time. This is a big relief for the newly joining youth.
It is often seen that after leaving the job, the employees had to run around for weeks or months to get their outstanding money. But the new rules have tightened the noose on companies. Now if an employee resigns or is fired, the company will have to pay his entire accounts and leave money within just 48 hours.
Many times an employee asks for leave but the company rejects it citing work. Under the new provisions, if the company has rejected your leave request, then those leaves will not be counted towards your 30 day limit. They will be completely safe and you will get payment in return for them. These changes are going to give double benefit to the employees – mental peace on one hand and financial benefits on the other.
