IPL 2026 Points Table: Defending champions Royal Challengers Bangalore continued their stellar performance in IPL 2026 and have topped the points table. The team defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 5 wickets in the 23rd match of the season. Batting first in this match played at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Lucknow team was reduced to 146 runs.


In reply, RCB achieved the target very easily and registered victory by losing 5 wickets in 15.1 overs. With this win, Bengaluru registered its fourth win in 5 matches and has a total of 8 points. Due to better net run rate, RCB has captured the top position, leaving behind Rajasthan Royals. This season has been full of ups and downs for Lucknow Super Giants. The team has suffered its third defeat in 5 matches, due to which its position in the table has weakened.

Lucknow Super Giants, who came to bat first after losing the toss, got a good start from the pair of Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh. Both of them added 32 runs in the first 4 overs and gave stability to the team. However, Markram was out after scoring 12 runs in 8 balls. After this, captain Rishabh Pant came to bat, but got injured on the third ball of his innings and had to leave the field after retiring hurt.


Marsh held one end and played an inning of 40 runs in 32 balls, which included 2 sixes and 3 fours. The team had lost 5 wickets for 118 runs. After this, Pant returned to bat again, but could not last long and was out after scoring only 1 run on the ball of Bhuvneshwar Kumar. RCB’s chase of the target also had an interesting start, when Virat Kohli almost got run out in the very first over. Phil Salt was out in the second over after scoring 7 runs. After this, Kohli adopted an aggressive style and scored 40 runs in 20 balls. Rajat Patidar scored 27 runs in 13 balls and Jitesh Sharma scored 23 runs in 9 balls. In the end, Tim David and Romario Shepherd scored fast runs and took the team to victory.
