This initiative is being taken forward by Adelaide Oval’s department Jamie Briggs and South Australian Cricket Association Chief Will Rayner. Till now, formal talks have not taken place with the Board of Control for Cricket in India, but discussions are going on at other levels. This proposal also includes an interesting exchange idea, under which the Big Bash League (BBL) wants to organize a match in Chennai.

Why did Adelaide become the preferred choice?

The month of March is considered favorable for this event, because at that time there is free time in the Australian cricket calendar and the weather is also good. Adelaide has already promoted tourism through sporting events.

Officials of Tourism South Australia and Cricket Australia have been informed about this scheme. However, the final decision is still in the hands of BCCI. If approved by them, this plan can give a new global identity to IPL.
