Lamborghini is moving quickly with the next chapter of its newest junior supercar. The upcoming Daredevil Spyder has been spotted testing at the legendary Nürburgringsignaling that the open-top model is already in its final development phase.

That’s notable because deliveries of the Temerario coupe have only recently begun. Rather than waiting, Lamborghini appears ready to capitalize on early momentum by bringing the convertible version to market as soon as possible. Industry expectations point to a full reveal in the summer of 2026, likely timed around Monterey Car Week.

A Clever Roof Solution Expected

Although the prototype remains heavily camouflaged, a few design clues stand out. Space is limited behind the cabin because the Temerario uses a compact hybrid setup paired with a twin-turbocharged V8 engine. That means Lamborghini is expected to use a lightweight folding fabric roof rather than a traditional metal hardtop.

A soft-top solution would help save weight, preserve luggage space, and allow the roof to tuck neatly behind the seats without major compromises. For a performance-focused roadster, that would be the smart move.

The rear deck also appears significantly reworked compared with the coupe. Engineers seem to have reshaped the engine cover and redesigned the ventilation layout to handle cooling needs while making room for the roof mechanism.

Hybrid Power With 10,000rpm Drama

The Spyder is expected to carry over the coupe’s powertrain unchanged. That means a high-revving twin-turbo V8 paired with three electric motors, creating a plug-in hybrid supercar with serious pace.

Lamborghini has already positioned the Temerario as the successor to the Lamborghini Huracanbut with a much more advanced drivetrain. The V8 reportedly revs to 10,000rpm, a rare figure in the turbocharged era, while the electric assistance should sharpen acceleration and low-speed response.

The Spyder should also retain rear-wheel steering and adaptive dampers, helping it balance agility with everyday usability.

Performance vs Emotion Debate

While the numbers are expected to impress, some enthusiasts remain divided over one issue: sound.

Lamborghini’s previous entry-level icons like the Lamborghini Gallardo and Huracán built their reputations partly on naturally aspirated V10 drama. The new hybrid V8 may deliver more speed, but replacing that soundtrack was always going to be controversial.

Ironically, the Spyder could help win over skeptics. With the roof down, occupants will hear more of the engine, turbo chatter, and hybrid character directly from behind the cabin.

Ferrari and McLaren in Sight

The Temerario Spyder will enter one of the most competitive performance segments in the world. Its likely rivals include the Ferrari 296 GTS and McLaren 750S Spider.

That means Lamborghini must deliver more than straight-line speed. Buyers in this class want theatre, design presence, and emotional appeal just as much as lap times.

What Happens Next

All signs now point to a public debut in August 2026. If Lamborghini gets the formula right, the Temerario Spyder could become one of next year’s most desirable open-top supercars: faster, smarter, and more usable than ever, while still carrying the drama expected from a raging bull badge.
