Punjab Kings registered an emphatic 54-run victory against Lucknow Super Giants in Match 29 of IPL 2026 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium following a colossal total.
The match witnessed a batting masterclass from PBKS who amassed one of their best totals in IPL history. Although the LSG put in a strong batting effort in reply, the target was always too far out of reach.
Priyansh Arya was awarded the Player of the Match award for his bludgeoning innings that gave the game its tone right at the beginning.
Arya, Connolly Power PBKS to 254
Put into bat first, PBKS lost Prabhsimran Singh very early on but after that it was one-way traffic for the LSG till the first half. Priyansh Arya and Cooper Connolly put on a huge 182-run partnership that turned the tables in an instant.
Arya absolutely pummelled the ball to all parts and played a stroke-filled innings of 93 in 37 balls which included 9 sixes and came at a strike rate of over 250. He completely took the game away in the powerplay and middle overs.
Connolly did not give him much behind as he matched his partner stroke for stroke, scoring 87 runs in 46 balls and hitting 8 fours and 7 sixes to complement Arya's innings. The duo hammered Aiden Markram for as many as five sixes in an over as his bowling figures read 0/32 in one over. The partnership had completely shifted the game in favor of the PBKS and pushed them to a large score.
Following the dismissal of both the set batters, Marcus Stoinis managed a quickfire 29 down the order while Shashank Singh and Nehal Wadhera contributed with small but significant cameos at the death. Punjab Kings finished with an above-par score of 254 for 7, their second-highest score in IPL history.
For the LSG bowling attack Prince Yadav and Manimaran Siddharth managed to pick up two wickets each but apart from those it was a tough day in the office as none of the other bowlers managed to control the run rate and the boundaries. However, Prince Yadav grabbed the eyeballs with his excellent spell of 4/25 in a game where others were being smashed at a rate of over 10.

LSG Falter in the Chase Despite Fighting Hard
LSG, chasing 255, got off to a fine start as Mitchell Marsh and Ayush Badoni added 61 for the first wicket. Marsh top scored for LSG with 40, and Badoni played a quick-fire cameo of 35.
Rishabh Pant scored 43 off 23 balls to keep the LSG chase going strong while Aiden Markram hit 42 off 22 balls to bring them closer in the middle stages.
Despite the ever-increasing required run rate, it was the loss of regular wickets in the second half of the innings that took the steam out of the LSG chase. Nicholas Pooran failed to convert and the lower order was left to do a bit too much.
Mukul Choudhary remained unbeaten on 21, but LSG only managed 200/5, falling well short of their target.
Marco Jansen took two wickets to be the most impressive for PBKS, along with one each from Arshdeep Singh, Yuzvendra Chahal and Vijaykumar Vyshak.
