Today, we will discuss a crop that many farmers are currently cultivating due to its lucrative potential. This fruit is increasingly favored by farmers looking for a quick return on investment with minimal effort. The search for a crop that yields high profits in a short time is a common pursuit among farmers.
The fruit we are referring to is widely sold in markets and is a favorite among consumers. People purchase it in large quantities due to its numerous health benefits. This fruit is known as Chikoo, which resembles a round potato and is considered highly profitable in farming.
Cultivating Chikoo does not require any special techniques. It is essential to plant it in sandy or loamy soil with a pH level between 6 and 8. Start by thoroughly preparing the land, which involves deep plowing the field two to three times.
Next, mix organic manure into the soil to enhance its fertility, ensuring a good yield. After preparing the soil, use a rotavator to further refine it. You can then plant Chikoo saplings, which can be sourced from a nursery, ensuring to maintain a spacing of two feet between each plant for optimal growth.
Regular watering, fertilization, and pest control are crucial to prevent any damage to the crop. Typically, Chikoo takes about 2 to 3 years to mature.
When discussing the profitability of Chikoo farming, it is important to note that cultivating it on one acre of land may cost between ₹40,000 to ₹60,000. From this, you can expect a yield of approximately 10 to 15 tons per acre, leading to potential earnings of around ₹7 to ₹8 lakh.
