After the success of 'Malamaal Weekly', Priyadarshan made its sequel 'Kamal Dhamaal Malamaal'. This film had big actors like Nana Patekar, Paresh Rawal, Om Puri, Asrani, Shreyas Talpade and Shakti Kapoor. However, this film, made with a budget of Rs 32 crore, could earn only Rs 6.58 crore at the box office and proved to be a disaster. This made it clear that it is not necessary that the sequel of every hit film be successful.
