Weather and health: a deep connection

When the weather changes, people often blame cold wind, rain, heat or pollution for their cough, cold, sore throat and fatigue. But doctors say that weather is not always the real cause of diseases. Often, the problem lies in our daily routine – habits that gradually weaken our body. In today’s fast-paced life, staying up late at night, skipping meals, staying in front of screens for long hours and being under constant stress has become common. The body can tolerate these habits for some time, but eventually it affects the immune system. This is the reason why many people fall ill again and again.

Due to weakness of immune system

Dr. Rashika, who is a consultant pulmonologist at Apollo Hospitals, explains that good sleep is not just a matter of time, but its quality is also important. Due to continuous less or poor sleep the immune system becomes weak. As a result, such people become victims of diseases like cold, cough and asthma. If a person wakes up repeatedly at night, snores, or uses a mobile phone for a long time before sleeping, the body does not get a chance to recover properly.

Side effects of weak immune system

Studies conducted by the US CDC show that lack of sleep not only harms the immune system, but it can also have negative effects on heart health, obesity and mental health. During deep sleep, the body repairs itself and produces proteins needed to fight infection.

impact of lifestyle

Experts believe that bad eating habits also increase the risk of diseases. According to Dr. Rashika, people often skip meals or become dependent on processed foods and outside food. As a result, the body does not get the necessary nutrients. To maintain a strong immune system, the body needs protein, iron, zinc, vitamins, fiber and adequate water. But nowadays people are increasingly consuming packaged food, sweet snacks and instant meals.

Side effects of water deficiency and sedentary lifestyle

A study conducted by the National Institutes of Health found that nutrition directly affects the immune system and the level of inflammation in the body. Additionally, not drinking enough water is also a serious concern. Doctors say that due to lack of water, the mucus in the body becomes thick, which can increase the risk of infection. Staying in closed spaces for a long time, whether it is home or office, can be harmful to health. Viruses and allergens can survive longer in air-conditioned rooms, dusty environments, poorly ventilated areas, and crowded closed spaces.
