One of Persib Bandung’s key players is preparing to compete on the biggest stage of world football — the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The player in question is Persib Bandung’s reliable defender and Iraq national team member, Frans Putros.

Frans Putros’ participation in the 2026 World Cup brings positive news for Persib Bandung, even though he will not be representing Indonesia.

Currently, the Iraq national team is holding a training camp in Spain.

During this training camp, Iraq played a friendly match against Andorra.

The match took place at Estadi de la FAF, Andorra’s home ground, on Friday (May 29, 2026).

In that game, Iraq secured a 1-0 victory.

The only goal of the match was scored by Iraqi player Ali Yousif in the 20th minute.

Head coach Graham Arnold fielded 11 players from the Iraq national team as the starting XI for the friendly match.

Although Frans Putros was not included in the starting lineup, he still featured in the game after coming on as a substitute for Mustafa Saadon in the 65th minute.

After the match, the Iraq national team returned to Spain to continue their training camp.

This victory serves as a morale booster ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

Potential Financial Gain for Persib

According to FIFA data from the 2022 World Cup, clubs were entitled to receive a payment of 10,950 US dollars per player per day, equivalent to around IDR 183 million.

This means Frans Putros could bring significant financial benefits to Persib Bandung if the same regulation remains in effect for the 2026 World Cup.

The total amount received by clubs could be even higher this time, as FIFA’s subsidy fund has increased from 209 million US dollars (2022) to 355 million US dollars (2026).
