New Delhi. The prices of commercial LPG (LPG) cylinders were increased once again on Monday across the country. This is expected to increase the operating costs of hotels, restaurants, catering services and other businesses dependent on LPG. The price of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder in Delhi has been increased by Rs 42 to Rs 3,113.50.

Kolkata recorded the highest increase of Rs 53.50, while in Mumbai and Chennai prices were increased by Rs 43.50 and Rs 46 respectively. Oil marketing companies have also increased the price of five kilogram free trade LPG cylinder by Rs 11. However, there has been no change in the price of 14.2 kg cylinder for domestic use. This latest hike follows a series of increases in commercial LPG rates in recent months.

Fuel markets remain under pressure due to rising international fuel prices and supply concerns, increasing costs to commercial consumers. This price increase is likely to impact businesses in the hospitality and food services sector the most, where cooking gas is a key operational requirement.

Industry experts believe that the continued increase in fuel costs could impact the profits of restaurants, hotels and small food vendors. In contrast, the prices of domestic LPG cylinders have been kept stable at Rs 913 in Delhi, Rs 912.50 in Mumbai, Rs 939 in Kolkata and Rs 928.50 in Chennai.

The government and oil marketing companies have assured that there is adequate stock of LPG available across the country. Despite fluctuations in global energy markets, efforts are underway to ensure uninterrupted supply of LPG and other petroleum products.
