Lucknow: A very serious and big conspiracy to stall the re-evaluation portal of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has been revealed. Some unknown cyber criminals (Malicious Actors) launched a major cyber attack targeting the digital infrastructure of the Board. According to CBSE official sources, it was a ‘Denial of Service’ (DoS) attack, the main objective of which was to completely disrupt online services by taking down the servers.
In a very vicious manner, cyber attackers sent more than 15 lakh (1.5 million) hits on the portal within just 2 minutes. Apart from this, more than 1 lakh attempts were also made to breach the security of the system and make unauthorized file access. The purpose of this sudden increase in artificial traffic was to crash the website so that students could not submit their forms for revaluation.
Despite this major hacking attempt, CBSE’s security system proved to be strong. Currently more than 8,000 users (Concurrent Users) are active on this portal at the same time. The board informed that till 3:00 pm today, more than 16,000 students have successfully submitted their applications without any hassle.
Taking seriously the feedback received from students, CBSE Board has made several important improvements in the digital platform. To make the form filling process more easy and hassle-free, the session time limits have been increased. The Board has assured the students that their technical teams are on round the clock alert and fully prepared to deal with any emergency.
