Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, while reviewing the progress of Mukhyamantri Sehat Yojana (MMSY) today, said that this major health care initiative is proving to be a big relief for the people across the state. He also said that under this scheme, 3.79 lakh patients have already received cashless payment of Rs 654 crore.


What did CM Mann say?


Presiding over the review meeting, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the Punjab government is committed to ensuring quality and affordable health services to every family of the state. He said that the scheme has received overwhelming support from the people and is emerging as a revolutionary step towards universal healthcare coverage across Punjab.


Highlighting the reach of the programme, the Chief Minister said, "So far, 47.27 lakh health cards have been issued under the Mukhyamantri Sehat Yojana, covering 23.01 lakh families across Punjab. Of these cardholders, 48.5 percent are men and 51.5 percent are women. About 31 percent cards have been issued in urban areas, while 69 percent cards have been issued in rural areas."


He informed that continuous improvements are being made by the Punjab Government to make the scheme more accessible and user-friendly. He said, "In view of the difficulties people are facing in downloading the health cards, a dedicated WhatsApp-based facility and a website page is being created so that the beneficiaries can easily download their e-cards. Similarly, work on a new mobile app-based registration system is also underway and will be completed soon."


Sharing details about the treatment provided under the scheme, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, "So far, 3.79 lakh patients have received free treatment worth Rs 654 crore under this scheme in both government and private hospitals." He further informed that 835 hospitals have been empaneled under the scheme, including 223 government hospitals and 612 private hospitals, ensuring that the beneficiaries have access to standard health services across the state.


Emphasizing the scale and importance of this initiative, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, "Mukhyamantri Sehat Yojana has been launched to provide health cards to all 65 lakh families of Punjab. Under this flagship scheme, every family is entitled to cashless treatment up to Rs 10 lakh."


What did CM say on health care?


Describing this scheme as a new milestone in health care in the state, the Chief Minister said, "This initiative has proved to be a boon for the people as earlier they had to spend huge amount on medical treatment. But this scheme is ensuring that no family is deprived of standard health services due to financial constraints."


Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh and other senior officials were also present during the meeting.
