45-year-old Clarke was going to the airport after completing his commentary duties in the IPL final. Meanwhile, his car collided with a big semi-trailer truck. The collision was so strong that the front part of the car went under the truck and the vehicle was completely damaged.

Clarke, while mentioning this scary incident in his podcast Beyond23 Cricket Podcast, said that he was sleeping in the car during the journey. He woke up suddenly due to a strong shock and when he opened his eyes, he was surprised to see the sight in front of him.

He said, ‘This journey back home was very scary. First of all I want to thank the people of India. Because of their help I was able to reach home safely.

The former Australian captain said that he was not driving at the time of the accident. When he woke up, he saw that half of the car was stuck under the truck. He said that this experience was very frightening and he will not be able to forget it for a long time.

According to Clark, the driver later told him the truck’s brake lights were not working. Due to this, he could not anticipate the truck stopping in time and the car rammed into the truck from behind. He said that our car was completely destroyed. I suffered only a few injuries, but the driver’s leg appeared to be seriously injured. I was more worried for him because he was very nervous.

After the accident, Clarke also expressed special gratitude to the Board of Control for Cricket in India. He told that the board officials continued to inquire about his and the driver’s well-being. Clarke said that everyone in BCCI remained in constant touch. He was concerned about me and the driver. I am very grateful for their cooperation.

He finally said that it was an unfortunate accident, but he considers himself lucky to escape safely and be a part of another great IPL season.
