FIFA World Cup has officially returned to US after more than three decades.

The fourth match was played between the host team and Paraguay, which was the first match of the tournament to be played in US.

American pop star Katy Perry turned heads as she took the stage at the opening ceremony in Los Angeles, delivering a sparkling performance.

The singer wore a striking silver sequin dress from Stella McCartney’s Fall/Winter 2026 collection as she helped close out the star-studded festivities.

Katy completed the look with transparent wedge mules and silver accessories.

The Dark Horse singer was joined by 10-year-old Norwegian singer Tius, who features on Wonder from her 2024 album 143.

Before her performance, Katy shared a clip of the young singer on social media and wrote “That little voice you’re listening to right now is Tius.”

She added that Tius flew from Norway to LA just to perform alongside her.

The ceremony also featured performances from Future, Anitta, BLACKPINK’s Lisa, Rema and Tyla.

The tournament begin on June 11 in Mexico City and will end with a final on July 19, which will feature the first ever half-time show.
