Somvati Amavasya is considered to have special significance in Sanatan Dharma. When is Somvati Amavasya?


 


According to Sanatan Panchang, Amavasya Tithi will start on June 14 at 12:20 pm. After this, it will end on June 15 at 8:24 am. In Hindu religion, most of the festivals are celebrated according to Udaya Tithi, hence celebrating Somvati Amavasya on 15th June will be considered auspicious.


 


The auspicious time of this day will be from 5.23 am to 8 am. Worshiping Lord Shiva at this time is considered especially fruitful.


 



What to do on Somvati Amavasya?


 


Wake up in the morning on 15th June and take bath in a river. If it is not possible to take bath in the river, then mix Ganga water in the bath water and take bath. After bathing, wear clean clothes and worship Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati. During the worship, offer water, milk and Belpatra on Shivling. Also offer sweet fruits and sweets and chant mantras.


 


On this day, do charity as per your capacity. According to religious belief, donating on Amavasya brings special virtue. Donating pulses, flour, rice and fruits on this day is considered auspicious.


 



What not to do?


 


1. Avoid consuming meat and alcohol in food on this day.
2. Do not trouble anyone and avoid speaking bitter words.
3. Do not insult others.
