Khatu Shyam Ji: At the renowned Khatu Shyam Ji temple, Baba Shyam has unveiled a new appearance. He will now be seen by devotees in the 'Shyam Varna' (dark complexion) form. In this manifestation, his forehead is adorned with sandalwood paste. Temple traditions state that Baba Shyam presents himself in two distinct forms throughout the month. The 'Shaligram' form, where he appears in his original state, is visible to devotees for just seven days each month. Conversely, the 'Shyam Varna' form is available for approximately 22 to 23 days.
As per the temple committee, on Amavasya (the new moon day), the sandalwood paste from the 'Shyam Varna' form is removed following Baba Shyam's bath. Shortly after, the 'Tilak Shringar' (ritual adornment of the forehead) is conducted with full ceremonial observance. During this process, the temple remains closed to devotees for about 19 hours, allowing only the chief priests to perform the adornment rituals.
Temple Reopens After 'Tilak Shringar'
Baba Shyam's 'Tilak Shringar' was recently completed. After nearly 19 hours of closure, the temple doors reopened, filling the air with the chants and cheers of devotees. Visitors are now able to witness the enchanting 'Tilak Shringar' form of Baba Shyam. The temple committee has organized a systematic viewing process, with devotees lined up in 14 queues along a 75-foot path. People from various regions, including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Haryana, have come with their prayers and wishes. The Shri Shyam Temple Committee, along with police administration, has made extensive arrangements to ensure a seamless viewing experience. Security personnel and temple guards are overseeing the queues within the temple grounds and along the viewing route.
Temple Will Not Close During the Day on Saturdays and Sundays
Normally, the Khatu Shyam Ji temple is closed from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. However, due to the increased number of devotees on weekends, the temple will remain open during these hours today and tomorrow. Furthermore, on Ekadashi and Dwadashi, the temple will stay open at night if the crowds are substantial.
