Khatu Shyam Ji: At the world-famous Khatu Shyam Ji temple, Baba Shyam has changed his appearance. He will now grant darshan (holy viewing) to devotees in the 'Shyam Varna' (dark complexion) form. In this form, Baba Shyam's forehead is anointed with sandalwood paste. According to temple tradition, Baba Shyam appears in two forms over the course of a month. One is the 'Shaligram' form, in which he appears in his original guise; devotees get to witness this form for only seven days a month. The other is the 'Shyam Varna' form, in which he grants darshan for approximately 22 to 23 days.

According to the temple committee, on Amavasya (the new moon day), the sandalwood paste of the 'Shyam Varna' form is removed after Baba Shyam is bathed. A few days later, the 'Tilak Shringar' (ceremonial adornment of the forehead) is performed with full rituals. During this 'Tilak Shringar' process, the temple doors remain officially closed to devotees for about 19 hours. During this time, only the chief priests carry out the adornment rituals.

Temple Reopens After 'Tilak Shringar'
Baba Shyam's 'Tilak Shringar' was recently performed. After remaining closed for nearly 19 hours, the temple doors reopened, and the Khatu Shyam Ji temple resonated with the chants and cheers of devotees. Devotees are now viewing the captivating 'Tilak Shringar' form of Baba Shyam. The temple committee is facilitating an organized viewing process, with devotees arranged in 14 queues along a 75-foot-long path. Devotees are arriving from all corners of the country—including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Haryana—with their prayers and wishes. Robust arrangements have been made by the Shri Shyam Temple Committee and the police administration to ensure a smooth viewing process. Police personnel and temple security guards are managing the queues of devotees within the temple complex and along the viewing path.

Temple Will Not Close During the Day on Saturdays and Sundays
Typically, the Khatu Shyam Ji temple remains closed between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM. However, due to the weekend rush on Saturdays and Sundays, the number of devotees is higher than on regular days. In view of this, the doors of the Khatu Shyam Ji temple will not be closed during the day today and tomorrow. Additionally, on Ekadashi and Dwadashi, the temple remains open even at night if the crowds are heavy.
