Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah will chair the 10th top-level meeting of the Narco-Coordination Center (NCORD) on June 26 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. This meeting, organized by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), will play an important role in further strengthening the government’s efforts to realize Prime Minister Modi’s vision of a drug-free India.

The meeting will bring together key stakeholders from 44 Central Ministries and Departments as well as 108 representatives from State Governments and drug law enforcement agencies in a hybrid mode.

On this occasion, the Union Home Minister will release ‘Vision Document on Drug Control (2026-2029)’. This vision document, prepared after extensive consultation with line departments of the Central Government, drug enforcement agencies and other stakeholders, will provide a common roadmap to tackle the drug problem on demand reduction, supply reduction and harm reduction aspects.

This roadmap envisages a network-centric enforcement approach. It also includes measures to address the challenges of synthetic drugs and darknet trafficking, keep youth away from drugs, and increase access to treatment and rehabilitation centers for drug users over the next three years, which will be implemented in a coordinated and sustained manner.

This document integrates enforcement, demand reduction, rehabilitation, public awareness, capacity building and inter-agency coordination, clearly defining the responsibilities, timelines and targets of all stakeholders. This vision document will serve as a guiding framework for policy formulation, implementation and institutional strengthening to tackle the drug problem across the country.

On this occasion, Amit Shah will release the NCB Annual Report – 2025 and inaugurate the newly constructed NCB zonal offices in Jammu and Guwahati. ‘Drug Disposal Fortnite Campaign’ is a special campaign to destroy narcotics.

During this fortnight, around 2,09,500 kg of narcotics, worth Rs 6,000 crore, are expected to be destroyed as per the law by different central and state law-enforcement agencies across the country.

This meeting will provide a platform for a comprehensive review and evaluation of the collective efforts made by all concerned stakeholders to tackle the drug problem in the country. This program will help the participating states, departments and agencies to move forward with new enthusiasm and commitment to achieve the goal of effective drug control.

Emphasizing the need for a “whole-of-government approach” to effectively fight the drug menace in the country, this high-level meeting will deliberate on key issues to effectively combating drug trafficking and drug abuse across the country over the next three years.

This meeting will prove to be important in making the ‘Zero Tolerance Policy’ adopted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi against drug trafficking more effective and powerful.
