Shreyas Iyer got the Indian T20I captaincy with much hype and expectations. However, his very first outing as the Indian captain is not as great as it was expected. India is touring Ireland for a two-match T20I series under Iyer's leadership. And today, in the first T20I, on June 26, Shreyas Iyer got dismissed for just 3 runs in 7 balls, as he registered the lowest score as a captain on his debut.
After India lost Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan within the power play, Shreyas had to walk in the fourth over. He gave his usual slow start, allowing Abhishek Sharma to take as many strikes as possible.
However, his innings ended in the first ball of the sixth over. Debutant Matt Hollard got Shreyas as the batter tried to clear the ball over deep square leg. Even though Shreyas successfully middled the ball, he chose the wrong side, as Docrell took a stunning low catch.
