In their opening T20I match of the two-game series held in Belfast on Friday, Ireland posted a total of 182 runs for 9 wickets, thanks to a solid half-century from Lorcan Tucker and a brisk 49 from Gareth Delany.




After being reduced to 51 for 4, Tucker scored 50 runs off 36 balls, hitting five fours and two sixes. He formed a crucial 64-run partnership with Delany, who contributed a quick 49 runs off just 32 balls, including three fours and three sixes. The duo added 49 runs in just 16 balls for the sixth wicket. Harshit Rana was the standout bowler for India, taking 3 wickets for 24 runs.



Ireland's Challenging Start

Following India's decision to bowl first after winning the toss, Ireland began with a promising start. Tim Tector hit a six off the first over bowled by Arshdeep Singh, while Ross Adair followed up with two fours in Harshit Rana's next over. However, Rana struck back, dismissing Adair, who was caught by wicketkeeper Sanju Samson, leaving Ireland at 20 for 1 in just 1.5 overs.




Arshdeep Singh then claimed the second wicket, sending Harry Tector back for a duck, which left Ireland at 25 for 2 after three overs.




Rana quickly added to his tally, getting Tim Tector caught by skipper Shreyas Iyer for 17 runs, reducing Ireland to 30 for 3 in 3.4 overs.




By the end of the powerplay, Ireland was at 36 for 3, with Lorcan Tucker and Benjamin Calitz at the crease.



Tucker and Delany's Recovery Efforts

Tucker and Delany managed to stabilize the innings, bringing Ireland to 68 for 4 by the 10-over mark.




In the 13th over, Tucker scored 16 runs off Axar Patel, including two fours and a six, helping Ireland surpass the 100-run mark. Tucker reached his half-century in 35 balls before falling to Harshit Rana, leaving Ireland at 115 for 5.



Delany's Explosive Finish

Delany and George Dockrell then combined for a rapid 49-run partnership in just 16 balls. Delany attacked Washington, scoring 19 runs in the 16th over, which included two fours and a six. In the following over, Prasidh Krishna faced a barrage, conceding 27 runs, including a four and three consecutive sixes from Delany, as Ireland crossed the 150-run mark.




Axar Patel eventually halted the onslaught by taking a catch off Dockrell, who scored 19 runs off 10 balls. Delany was dismissed shortly after for 49 runs off 32 balls, leaving Ireland at 178 for 7.




Matthew Humphreys was run out on the last ball, concluding Ireland's innings at 182 for 9.



Bowling Highlights for India

For India, Harshit Rana led the bowling attack with figures of 3 wickets for 24 runs in four overs. Arshdeep Singh and Axar Patel also contributed with 2 wickets each, while Prasidh Krishna had a tough outing, going wicketless and conceding 57 runs in his four overs.
