England's fast bowler Lauren Bell was in tears following her team's emphatic 40-run victory over South Africa at the Kennington Oval in London yesterday to book a spot in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 final.


 


The sweetest victory also resulted in one of the tournament's most moving scenes. An hour after the match, Bell went over to the grandstand where her family was watching from. She embraced her loved ones, and tears flowed down her face as she rejoiced at England's reaching the final.

England Outplays South Africa to Reach the Final

 


England delivered a strong team effort in the second semi-final. South Africa asked the hosts to bat first, and England Women scored 169/5 in their 20 overs.


 


Captain Nat Sciver-Brunt top scored for the home side with a superb 75 from 47 deliveries, with 11 fours and one six. Heather Knight chipped in with a half-century to set up a commanding total.


 


South Africa battled hard, through Tazmin Brits (51). However, the run chase was never fluent enough, and they were bowled out for 129 in the 20th over - Lauren Bell and Charlotte Dean claiming two wickets each.


 


The home side will now take on arch-rivals Australia in the final of the Women's T20 World Cup 2026 at Lord's on July 5. Australia will be gunning for its seventh title, while England has failed to make it to the final in the 2026 edition in the last 7 years. Bell's celebration after the win showed how significant this achievement was for the home side.
