In fact, the Madhya Pradesh government argues that storing surplus grain in godowns risks spoiling it. It is also necessary to make room for the new crop. Hence ethanol production is encouraged. While the government spends approximately 3900 to 4000 per quintal on this rice, the same rice is supplied to the plants at only 2320 per quintal. According to government data, approximately 67 kg of rice is produced from 100 kg of paddy. These costs include the minimum base price, packaging and mill costs.

Three trucks reveal the mystery

This whole scam came to light because of a small incident. On June 2, 3 trucks of rice were sent from Navegaon warehouse in Balaghat to AVJ ethanol plant in Chhindwara. According to the records, this rice was to be used for ethanol production. On June 3, one of these trucks was found at Sancheti Rice Mill in Balaghat. The remaining two trucks never reached the ethanol plant. After the incident came to light, a special police investigation team started the investigation.
