New Delhi: Indian boxers continued their sensational run in theCommonwealth Games 2026, winning their seventh gold medal in Glasgow on Saturday, August 1. Ankush Panghal clinched India’s seventh gold medal in boxing after defeating England’s Dimeji Shittu in the men’s 80 kg final. He won in a 4-1 split decision against Shittu.

Sachin Siwach beat Namibia’s Tryagain Morning Ndevelo in the men’s 60kg final. The Indian secured a remarkable comeback victory after he was behind his opponent in the opening two rounds. In the third and last round, Sachin forced a standing count against Ndevelo, which resulted in a 3-2 split verdict win in his favour.

Olympic medallist Lovlina Borgohain suffered a defeat against Australia’s Emma-Sue Greentree in the women’s 70kg final with a split 1-4 verdict and settled for a silver.

Jaismine, Preeti, Sakshi, Arundhati and Priya win gold; Jadumani settles for silver

Earlier, Jaismine Lamboria, Preeti Pawar, Sakshi Chaudhary, Arundhati Choudhary and Priya Ghanghas bagged gold medals in their respective categories, while Jadumani Singh also settled for a silver.

Arundhati defeated England’s Chantelle Reid in the women’s 70kg final with a unanimous 5-0 verdict. Reigning world champion Jaismine bagged the gold with the same scoreline against Northern Ireland’s Michaela Walsh.

Sakshi beat England’s Ruby White in the women’s 51kg final by a 5-0 verdict to secure India’s third gold medal in boxing on Saturday. Priya had to fight hard for her victory against Canada’s Marie-Bathoul Al-Ahmadieh. She won the gold with a 4-1 split decision in the women’s 60kg.

Jadumani suffered a hard-fought 0-5 defeat against Australia’s Jye Dixon. He struggled at the start against his taller opponent but won the first round 3-2. However, Dixon made a brilliant comeback to win the next two rounds and clinch the gold.

Earlier, the 22-year-old Preeti made a brilliant start and secured a 5-0 win against Canada’s Scarlett Delgado in the women’s 54kg to bag India’s first gold medal of the day. Narender Berwal will take on England’s Damar Thomas in the men’s 90+kg Final, aiming to win India’s eighth gold medal in boxing.
