No injuries were reported in the landslide, which cut off access to Nakabusa Onsen in Azumino, a historic hot spring resort in Nagano Prefecture, with more than 200 years of history, Kyodo News Agency reported.

Located about 1,462 meters above sea level, the resort is known for its natural hot spring waters and serves as a popular starting point for hiking routes in the Northern Alps.

Those stranded include hotel guests and hikers staying at a nearby mountain hut, police said on Aug. 9.

The Nagano prefectural government said the landslide swept away a bridge along the road linking the resort with central Azumino.

Azumino observed heavy rain with 50 millimeters of rainfall in a single hour Saturday night, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency, Japan Today reported.

Typhoon Dolphin lashed Japan’s southern Okinawa prefecture on Aug. 8, injuring six people and cutting power to more than 50,000 buildings, Reuters reported.
