New Delhi. Earthquake tremors were felt in Myanmar on Sunday morning. According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the intensity of the earthquake in Myanmar was recorded at 3.5 magnitude. The earthquake occurred at 6.33 am, whose epicenter was at a depth of 130 kilometers underground.

NCS shared the information on social media platform X and said that the location of the earthquake was Myanmar. Earlier on July 11, an earthquake of 4.1 magnitude had occurred in Myanmar, whose epicenter was recorded at a depth of 90 kilometers.

Apart from this, earlier earthquake tremors of 4.5 magnitude were also felt in Myanmar. According to NCS, this earthquake occurred at a depth of 100 kilometers. Myanmar is considered a sensitive area in terms of seismic activities, where there is a risk of medium and major earthquakes.

According to geologists, Myanmar is situated between four tectonic plates – Indian, Eurasian, Sunda and Burma Plate, where geological activities keep happening continuously. The Sagaing Fault runs through many parts of Myanmar, making areas such as Sagaing, Mandalay, Bago and Yangon at high risk of earthquakes.
