Monsoon has once again become active with full force across the country. The relief that rains from the sky can now become a disaster for many areas. The Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert of heavy rain, strong thunderstorm and lightning in 27 states of the country including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar on August 21. There is a possibility of winds blowing at a storm speed of 85 to 90 kilometers per hour in some sensitive areas, which may disrupt life.
Actually, cyclonic circulation remains active in the upper atmosphere of north-western Uttar Pradesh and Assam. Due to this system, the weather is changing rapidly from the plains to the Northeast and the mountains. Meteorologists say that heavy rains and storms can damage crops, and there is a big danger of trees, signboards falling and lightning. In view of the possibility of landslides in hilly areas, people and tourists have been advised to be extremely cautious.
Kal Ka Mausam: Danger of waterlogging due to stormy winds in Delhi-NCR
There is a possibility of strong winds at a speed of 50 to 60 km per hour along with torrential rains in the capital Delhi and surrounding areas on August 21. Those leaving for office or work in the morning may have to face heavy traffic jams and waterlogging on the roads. The maximum temperature in Delhi is expected to be around 35 degrees and minimum 28 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Department has advised to avoid standing under trees or weak hoardings during severe thunderstorms.
Lightning warning from UP-Bihar to Jharkhand
The weather is going to deteriorate in both western and eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh. Warning of heavy rain has been issued in more than two dozen districts including Meerut, Noida, Agra, Kanpur, Jhansi, Prayagraj, Gorakhpur and Varanasi. The mercury will be around 34 degrees in Lucknow. Whereas in the districts of Patna, Gaya, Bhagalpur, Darbhanga and Seemanchal of Bihar, gusts can blow at a speed of 55 to 60 km per hour. There is a possibility of lightning and hailstorm at some places in eastern India, hence fishermen have been asked to stay away from deep water. Winds can blow at a speed of 70 km per hour in Ranchi, Jamshedpur and Dhanbad of Jharkhand.
Shadow of landslides on mountains, alert in Punjab-MP also
Rivers and drains may overflow due to heavy rains in hilly districts like Nainital, Chamoli, Haridwar, Tehri of Uttarakhand and Kullu, Mandi, Kangra of Himachal Pradesh. The minimum temperature in Manali may drop to 10 degrees. Apart from this, there will be heavy rain with heavy thunderstorm in many parts of Punjab, from Ludhiana, Amritsar, Chandigarh to Bhopal, Indore, Sagar of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
In view of the bad weather, the administration has appealed to the people to leave their homes only after seeing the latest weather updates, avoid going in open fields and stay in safe places during lightning.
