India’s Ajay Tyagi finished fifth in his lightweight men’s singles sculls heat on the opening day of the 2026 World Rowing Championship, clocking 8:15.73 on Monday.
Tyagi will now compete in Final C, which decides the standings from 13th to 18th position.
Vipul Ghurde and Saurav Kumar, meanwhile, finished fifth in Heat 2 of Men’s pair with a timing of 7:43.82.
Meanwhile Navdeep Singh and Kulwinder Singh competed in the Men’s Double Sculls and recorded a time of 7:29.47, finishing fifth. The duo will advance to the quarter finals.
The championships will continue in Amsterdam until August 30, with India’s rowers looking to progress through the next stages of their respective events.
